Need to breathe some new life into this old blog

I've got the will to blog, just not the time or energy to do it right. I'm boring myself so I know I must be boring my readers. I'm thinking about making some changes around here, I'm just not sure what yet. I won't change the basic core of the blog, cookbook recipes, but I need to find a way to make this blog more enriching for both myself and my readers. I read a lot of blogs and even the best ones can get stale. It's never been my goal to be the biggest, baddest food blogger out there but I don't want to get tossed to the end of the pile either.

Any thoughts or suggestions for me?

I've never commented before, but I want to say...I LOVE YOUR BLOG and am not bored at all! Your blog is in my favorites list and I check it every morning, and make many of the recipes. I just want to thank you for your efforts, because I know how hard it must be to keep up blogging with two little ones and working full time. I appreciate you!

I have no advice because I am not bored with your blog. I agree with Rhonda! I also check your blog everyday and have made several of the recipes. Like you, I am addicted to cookbooks. I read them like novels but rarely make any of the recipes. I have made several of the recipes you have posted though.

I'm not bored, either. But I do like when you have comments about whether the kids liked it, since that's an issue in our house.

I guess I'm a boring person because I enjoy your "boring" blog so much. In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with it. It's the second one I go to every day (after my sister's).....talk about boring! NO, JUST KIDDING, Wanda. ;) Really, I do enjoy the recipes, your comments on them, the chitchat about your family and activities....everything.

I like your blog, too! I really like that you use recipes from your cookbook collection and also comment on whether you liked them or not. Plus the recipes usually take pretty common ingredients and methods that I know.

I don't find your blog boring at all. I love that you give the cookbooks that you use--I have even gone out and bought some of them. I like that the recipes are not made with things I usually don't have and I like that you say what you liked about the recipe or what you would change. I have used many of the recipes you have posted. I appreciate the time you take to blog--and I like the pictures too. Thanks so much. Sheila

I agree - this blog is not boring at all and I love it. As a writer, though, if you feel you are bored, try theme weeks? Italian? French? Fall foods? Your kid's favorite foods?

I, too, love the blog, and I'm never bored! You inspire me, and sometimes the things you say remind me of myself. You give this working mom something to aspire to!

Your blog is not boring! I'm trying to go through my cookbooks and you are an inspiration to me to get cooking, to try new things. When we have the same cookbook, I always bookmark the good recipes you've cooked from it!

Paula, Paula, Paula, your blog is so so so boring... that is why no one ever reads it and no EVER comments.
Seriously, I don't think you should change a thing.
I however can understand wanting the new challenge. Look at what I do to myself on mine...cookie and bread weekly. I seriously have to cut that out as I can't keep up.

I will be honest with you, your food blog is the only one that I still regularly check after 2 years. I enjoy seeing what cookbooks you are reading and what you are making. You really do a great job.
Please let me know if your new ideas would need a partner in crime as I would love to work with you on a combined food blog project.

I have never commented, but I've been reading for close to a year. I don't find it boring to read at all, but I certainly don't want you to get so bored by writing it that you stop.

I love cooking and reading and thinking about recipes, so that's what appeals to me about your blog, but even I get in a funk once in a while trying to decide what to make. So, you know, don't worry about it too much. :)

As for suggestions, I'm not really sure. Maybe find the things you like talking about the most - family likes, new techniques, endless uses for traditional ingredients, etc. - and try to think about how to concentrate on those in some way.

I like that you let us know when you needed a little kickstart. We readers are happy to help!

I have no problem with your blog either. As for advice, the only advice I can give is to Anonymous Jan: You better watch it 'saster' or you'll wish you had kept your lip buttoned! LOL!
